Happy Friday everybody! Let’s get after it.

Jonathan Mingo a likely Round 2 pick

While no Ole Miss Rebels were selected in the 1st round of the NFL Draft, Jonathan Mingo is likely to hear his name called in Round 2 tonight as he is the best remaining wide receiver available according to ESPN. Coverage of Round 2 starts at 6pm on ESPN.

Chris Beard lands giant transfer

Jamarion Sharp, a 7-foot-5, 235-pounder from Hopkinsville, Ky., chose Ole Miss over Memphis, Missouri and multiple other programs.

In 32 games for the Hilltoppers last season, Sharp averaged 7.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.1 blocks per game, making 50 percent of his shots from the floor. The two-time Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year averaged 8.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.6 blocks per game for Western Kentucky in 2021-22.

Ole Miss starting rotation in flux

Ole Miss hosts the Georgia Bulldogs (23-18, 7-11 SEC) in baseball this weekend, and the pitching rotation remains in flux as Mike Bianco said that Hunter Elliott is back on the shelf after experiencing more discomfort following his performance against LSU last weekend.

That’s not a good sign for us seeing Elliott anymore this season.

It’s also bad news for a team headed toward its worst conference record since Bianco became the coach in 2001.

The Rebels finished 30-25 (13-17) in 2011. Ole Miss is currently 21-20 (3-15 SEC) with just 12 conference games remaining. Ole Miss would have to go 10-2 over those last three SEC series to equal that conference record. It’s doable, but doesn’t seem likely.

Xavier Rivas will start tonight (6:30 SECN+). JT Quinn will start Saturday, and Sunday is TBA.

Thursday, April 27

Happy Thursday everybody. Today we’re focused on the 1st round of the NFL Draft, which starts tonight and goes all weekend. Although Ole Miss doesn’t have any consensus 1st round picks, several Rebels will have new NFL homes by Sunday night.

ESPN: Judkins No. 2 RB in Country

As a freshman, Judkins led the SEC in rushing yards (1,567) while also setting the single-season rushing record at Ole Miss for yards and rushing touchdowns (16).

Zach Evans hoping to get drafted high

Evans was a guest on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football on Wednesday. Evans is hoping to hear his name called on Friday (Round 2 or 3).

Evans listed as 13th best RB

Jonathan Mingo’s stock is rising

If Mingo goes in Round 2, it’s a steal. And if a team takes him in Round 1, I’ll stand up and applaud the move.

Mingo projected as 5th best WR, 37th overall

Nick Broeker is a Top 10 OG

Tavius Robinson expected to go on Day 3

As one of the most exciting prospects from north of the border in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft, edge rusher Tavius Robinson has the “freaky” blend of height-size-athleticism that can thrive at the next level. After an impressive showing at the NFL Combine, Robinson’s talents will likely be gone by early day 3.

How to watch the NFL Draft tonight

The NFL Draft starts at 7pm on NFL Network, ESPN and ABC.
